New Audi R8 spied at the ‘Ring

As the international unveiling of the Lamborghini Huracán has already taken place, it was only a matter of time before its sister car would make its appearance. Audi’s R8 is likely to make its official unveiling before the end of the year, however, the first spy pictures have now surfaced on the Internet. The pictures were taken at the Nürburgring and show a few important changes to the outgoing Audi R8.
First of all, it seems as if Audi hasn’t messed with the fundamental design of the R8. Having said that, on closer inspection Audi has – subtly – changed every aspect of the car, front to rear.  The new Audi family nose can clearly be seen. It is here where opinion might be split, as this nose section seems to incorporate a lot of the design elements from the new TT. Shouldn’t Audi have launched the R8 first and then the TT?
The most significant change might be at the rear. As these pictures suggest, Audi has implemented a diffuser with seven channels. Let’s hope this aggressive rear venturi system makes production.
We can expect to see an updated version of the 4,2-litre V8 engine, while the potent 5,2-litre V10 will also receive more power and torque. Both engines will be connected to Audi’s seven-speed double-clutch transmission.
