James Rebhorn: ‘Homeland’ Actor Dies At 65

James Rebhorn, best known for playing Claire Danes’ father on the Showtime TV drama ‘Homeland,’ passed away today from melanoma at the age of 65.

James Rebhorn, 65, passed away on March 21. The veteran character actor’s career spanned more than 40 years as he often found himself on both the small and silver screens hundreds of times.

James Rebhorn Passes Away

James Rebhorn, who played the father of Claire Danes‘ troubled CIA officer Carrie Mathison on the Showtime TV show Homeland, has passed away. He died on March 21, his agent Dianne Busch confirmed to HollywoodLife.com.
“He died from melanoma, which had been diagnosed in 1992,” Dianne said. “He continued to work  though. He died on Friday afternoon at home in New Jersey, having hospice care there for the last two weeks. His family was with him.”
Dianne also revealed that James “went peacefully.”
“Jim was a wonderful client and a warm, funny, generous man. He will be greatly missed,” she added.
The Philadelphia native had a recent recurring role on the USA Network hit White Collar as Special Agent Reese Hughes.
During his prolific five-decade career, James also played the role of the district attorney that sent Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer to jail on the Seinfeld finale in 1998. Additionally, he once had a role in the classic film My Cousin Vinny (1992) as the prosecution’s FBI expert automotive witness.
James also played the school’s headmaster, Mr. Trask in Scent of a Woman (1992), and was President Signoff in The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle (2000).
