DR DRE OVERTAKES JAY Z AS THE SECOND RICHEST RAPPER

Jay Z

Sean “Diddy” Combs aka P.Diddy continues to reign as the wealthiest rapper alive.
The music mogul was once again named number one on Forbes Five: Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists 2014 with an estimated net worth of $700 million thanks to a growth of $120 million over the past year. With this quick level of growth, Diddy might soon become hip-hop’s first dollar billionaire. Diddy’s boost and newest addition to his portfolio is Rovolt TV which he launched in select markets last year.
“Right now my focus is Revolt and making it the number one, most-trusted, most credible worldwide brand for music,” Diddy told Forbes recently. “And to get Revolt to be the quintessential definition of real time. I think that’s the future.”
However, the main news was that of hip hop mogul Jay Z dropping to number 3. Mega producer and veteran rapper Dr. Dre whizzed past Jay Z to secure second place with an estimated net worth of $550 million. Dre owes most of his wealth to his large stake in Beats By Dre headphones company which is valued at close to $2 billion.
Jay Z is currently in third place with an estimated net worth of $520 million thanks mostly to his $204 million sale of Rocawear in 2007 and his $150 million deal with Live Nation in 2008. Jay Z is also seeing major growth in his label Roc Nation which is the home to artists including Rihanna, Rita Ora and J Cole
Rappers Birdman and 50 Cent rounded out the top five with an estimated net worth of $160 million and $140 million respectively.
