TANZANIA:President Kikwete attends inauguration ceremony of Mozambique’s President Felipe Nyusi

President Jakaya Kikwete yesterday attended the swearing in ceremony of Mozambique new President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi of the governing Frelimo party.

The ceremony was held at the Independence Square, in the country’s capital, Maputo. Nyusi becomes the fourth President since the country attained its independency in 1975.
Other Tanzanian top leaders invited to attend the swearing in ceremony included former President, Benjamin Mkapa.
The Tanzania delegation in Mozambique also includes First Lady Salma Kikwete, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mahadhi Maalim, Minister of State Vice President’s Office in Zanzibar, Mohamed Abood Mohamed and CCM Vice Chairman, Philip Mangula.
Others are John Shibuda a Member of Parliament for Maswa West and Mtwara Regional Commissioner Halima Dendegu.
On Tuesday, Mozambique Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Oldemiro Baloi was quoted saying that four heads of state from the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) confirmed to attend the swearing in ceremony.
They are from Lesotho, Namibia, Tanzania and Malawi.
According to him, the ceremony was divided into three different categories among them the official ceremony at the President Official house, second at the Independence Square to allow more people to witness the ceremony and the third was a musical concert also at the Independence Square.
