Three of the four people accused of committing the murder of former Embakasi MP Mugabe Were in 2008 have been sentenced to death after high court judge Justice Luka Kimaru found them guilty of the crime. The fourth of the accused, Ms. Mary Wamaitha was released after the judge decided that the evidence provided did not link her to the death of the former MP who only served in parliament for a month.
“Having analyzed the evidence and the accused person’s decision not to ask for mercy, I sentence them to death as prescribed in law,” the Judge said. Mugabe replaced long serving MP David Mwenje after the 2007 general elections but faced his death barely a month after at when he was shot in his Woodley Estate home.
