President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret jetted back into the country Tuesday morning from London.
The plane carrying President Kenyatta and the First Lady touched down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport shortly after 6 am.
They were received at the airport by Deputy President William Ruto, Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Julius Karangi and other senior Government officials including Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Lenku.
The First Lady participated in the London Marathon and covered 42 kilometres. President Kenyatta received her at the finish line.
She participated in the marathon to raise awareness and funds for her ‘Beyond Zero Campaign’ which she launched on January 24 this year.
The initiative is aimed at improving maternal and child health care in Kenya as well as accelerating implementation of the national plan towards elimination of new HIV infections from mothers to children.
